MDS 3.0 & RUGS IV Operational Strategies and Financial Implications 5/19/10 - 025

This webinar will give you the latest impact of CMS’ plans regarding the nursing home Medicare reimbursement in conjunction with the implementation of the MDS 3.0.  The RUGs system is intended to be implemented nationally as a “budget neutral” change in reimbursement, but what will actually occur.  There may winners and losers at the individual facility level.  In order for leaders in the facility to understand how the RUGs will impact your facility, some key steps need to be taken.  This session will guide you in the process of assessing your facility’s RUGs systems, determining how your reimbursement might change moving forward, and in understanding system changes you could make to increase your financial health with the MDS 3.0.

Objectives:
• Describe the key changes in the RUGs system that will financially impact the facility’s reimbursement.
• Define and discuss concurrent therapy services and how this will impact reimbursement when RUGs therapy adjustments are implemented.
• Discuss operational strategies than can be implemented to manage the RUGs transition and enhance the financial strength of the facility.

Presenters:
Judi Kulus MAT, LNHA, RN, RAC-MT, and AANAC Master Teacher. Her background is in successful cost containment, revenue enhancement, quality improvement, and care planning. As a Pathway Health Services Consultant, Judi has focused much of her recent work in supporting facilities in managing the RAI process.
