MDS 3.0 Interdisciplinary Team and System Changes 4/21/10 - 023
When you think of your residents, how many of them are rarely or never understood? Is it 5% or 25%? In the MDS 3.0 assessment process, more residents will be interviewed. The interdisciplinary team (IDT) will be required to include resident voice throughout the assessment process. The MDS 3.0 user’s manual states, “Ask the DIRECT care staff over ALL shifts if possible about the resident’s…” The increased focus on resident voice and direct care input requires some significant change to the IDT assessment process and staff workflow. This webinar will help guide the IDT to effectively design the facility systems to meet the MDS 3.0 coding criteria and will assist facilities to prepare for the care systems changes necessary for a smooth transition.
Objectives:
• Understand how the MDS 3.0 sections impact the IDT roles.
• Describe the care system changes that are impacted by the MDS 3.0 coding guidelines
• Review new scheduling regulations and their impact on workflow
• Explain the five resident interviews and the techniques used in drawing out resident voice effectively.
