Our kitchen is clean…so why do we keep getting F-371 deficiencies? 3/31/10 – (021)

Each year, almost 40% of nursing facilities in Minnesota get cited for failing to store, prepare, distribute and serve food under sanitary conditions…a deficiency issued as F-371, the 5th most common deficiency, …why is that?

This webinar will provide real-life examples of deficient practices uncovered in the five areas that most frequently support this deficiency:

• Staff actions related to infection control
• Staff actions related to storage issues
• Cleanliness and condition of kitchen equipment
• Cleanliness and condition of the kitchen itself
• System failures regarding policies and procedures

This webinar will also highlight QIS survey tools that providers should be using to stay in compliance with this regulation.  Finally, the webinar will draw attention to new industry trends may make your facility more susceptible to a F-371 deficiency.

Objectives:
• Understand the survey process and tools for F-371
• Know how to use QIS tools to self-monitor for compliance with F-371
• Learn what staff behaviors and mistakes lead to the issuance of F-371
